Mothers

READER'S VIEWS - Henry L. Yu, M.D. - The Freeman

• Mothers are the all-around persona in the lives of their children 24/7 - as teacher, tutor, adviser, cook, and best of all, as their BFF.

•Mothers know that they are not perfect. So they need to be reminded of the things that they may have taken for granted or have forgotten along the way due to multitasking.

•Mothers know that their children grow up and they grow old. They need to update themselves with their children's kind of life - a balance between two different worlds.

•Mothers understand their children more as they have been kids themselves once upon a time. They do not expect the children to fully understand them now because they have not been mothers themselves as yet.

•Mothers understand that their kids also have their own ways of thinking, preferences, biorhythms, mood swings, likes and dislikes.

•Mothers find it hard when they are torn between love and discipline in dealing with their children. To be cruel in order to be good is not an easy task.

•Mothers weigh and re-evaluate things carefully first before they reprimand their kids or

blow their top.

•Mothers believe that time changes and so do happenings and things that surround us. They do not compare their children's ways to their old-fashioned upbringing.

•Mothers make it their responsibility to guide and mold their children to be good Christians. They believe that this is their mission in life, bestowed upon them by God in the name of motherhood.

•Mothers make their family their top priority. In the final analysis, family life comes first. As Corinthians 13:13 would put it: "These three remain: Faith, Hope, and Love. And the greatest of these is Love."

•Mothers love the same way yesterday, today, and tomorrow. It is a love for all seasons - one that is, in fact, more than forever…

For all these and more, we salute all the mothers in the world, for all the things that you have been… you are… and will be… Happy Mother's Day!
