Weak mahjong law

THE EAR - The Freeman

MAHJONG. There is an ordinance regulating the holding of mahjong sessions and prescribing fees for it. But many hold mahjong sessions anytime, putting up several tables, especially during wakes. for the dead. "Are they paying the prescribed fees?" an Ear reader wants to know.

ORDINANCE. The ordinance regulating mahjong has been there for years, according to columnist-lawyer Clarence Paul Oaminal (TF, March 19/14). One of the provisions of the ordinance is the time of holding the game which is from 12 noon to 12 midnight. "Pero naay magpamadyong lapas na ang tungang gabii, observes the same reader.  "Wa man badlonga bisan sa tanod na lang."
