Old Congressional Districts of Cebu

(First District)

Before the passage of the 1987 Constitution, Cebu was divided into seven congressional districts. This was from 1907-1972.

The 1st District of Cebu was composed of the following municipalities: Bogo, Borbon, Carmen, Catmon, Danao (which became a city in 1961), Pilar, San Francisco, Tabogon, Tudela, Poro (re-established as a town in 1909) and Sogod (re-established as a town in 1920)

1912-1916 : Gervasio Padilla

1916-1919 : Jose E. Hernaez

1919-1922 : Manuel C. Briones

1922-1925 : Manuel C. Briones

1925-1928 : Manuel C. Briones

1928-1931 : Manuel C. Briones

1931-1934 : Buenaventura Rodriguez

1934-1935 : Tereso M. Dosdos

1935-1938 : Celestino Rodriguez

1938-1941 : Tereso M. Dosdos

1941-1946 : Celestino Rodriguez

1946-1949 : Jovenal Almendras

1949-1972 : Ramon M. Durano

Ramon M. Durano served the longest, from what was called the 2nd Congress to the 7th Congress (22 years). The Philippine Congress was abolished by President Ferdinand Marcos with the declaration of Martial Law in 1972.
