EDITORIAL - The resurrection of Christ

Today marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ three days after his crucifixion at the hands of Roman soldiers. Millions across Christendom will celebrate this special moment when Christ rose from the dead, the culmination of his mission on earth.

In our celebrations today, there will be feasts marking the end of Christ's sufferings and His triumph against evil. From churches to the beaches, festivities are everywhere giving honor to Christ for His great love for mankind.       

Christ's death and resurrection fulfilled his promise of an eternal life for those who believe in him. He had sacrificed all his heavenly duties to come down to this world with a mission of saving man from sin.

While on earth, He suffered hardships. Despite the many miracles He had made, many had doubts over claims He is the Son of God. But He had not lost hope. A mission must be done to fulfill a promise of an eternal life.

Such promise has been God's greatest gift to mankind. If not for God's love for us, He would not have sent His son to this world to save us from sin. We have been chosen by God and that is why we become his special people.

Through his death and resurrection, Christ defeated Satan, which only showed that, in this world, no one is more superior to God's love. Through his sufferings, Christ had redeemed us from sin.

While God promised us salvation, we can only be redeemed through repentance. We cannot have eternal life unless we follow God's ways. By being His chosen people, God also wants us to obey His rules in order for us to be saved.

Repentance is the only way for mankind to have a shot at salvation. In His teachings, Christ told his disciples and his followers to repent and be baptized because these were the only ways for them to go to heaven.

By promising us redemption, God also meant that we must cast away evil ways and return to His fold. Happy Easter!
