Bloody fiesta in Mindanao
BLOODY FIESTA. Two war veterans were overheard talking about what they called a “bloody fiesta in Moroland.” They were talking over cups of coffee in a coffeeshop in a shopping mall about the killings of government troops by Muslim rebels in Mindanao. “Gipasagdan ra man nato kining mga rebeldeng Muslim sa pagpatuyang og pamatay sa atong ma sundawo,” one of them was quoted by an Ear source as saying.
NO RETALIATION. They were talking about the President’s reported decision not to retaliate against the rebels who last week killed 19 soldiers and then some days later added eight more victims bringing the total casualty to 27. The duo asked: “Husto ba gud na nga ato lang ilawog ang atong mga sundawo sa mabangis nga kaaway?” Someone in the coffeeshop shouted his answer: “Uban ko sa imong baruganan, Nyor.” The two old men, maybe in their 80s, fought in World War II as USAFFE soldiers.
