Stage set for Bughouse Open II

MANILA, Philippines — Bughouse or transfer chess will have a second serving in the Philippines with the staging of the WR Bughouse Open scheduled on Aug. 29 at the Quezon City MICE Center.
It will be a reprise of the successful inaugural staging early last month at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Taguig featuring World No. 3 Hikaru Nakamura in a teamup with WR founder and organizer Wadim Rosenstein.
Isaac Chiu and Janak Awwatramani of Deep Waters topped the inaugural event by edging fancied Grandmaster Andrew Tang and FIDE Master Richard Zheng of The Angry Birds to pocket the top purse worth $500,000.
