Remembering showbiz personalities who died in 2012

MANILA, Philippines- Every November, we remember our departed loved ones.

We remember the greatness of their lives and the memories we had with them.

In commemoration of All Souls' Day, let us recall the some of the big personalities in the entertainment industry who died last year.

DOLPHY -  Of course number one in our list is the King of Comedy Dolphy who died July 11, 2012. According to Makati Medical Center’s official statement, he died due to “multiple organ failure secondary to complications brought about by severe pneumonia, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and acute renal failure.”

The whole showbiz industry mourned his death, leading to an unprecedented truce among TV stations, setting aside  network rivalry to give a proper tribute for the King of Comedy.

WHITNEY HOUSTON -  At the age of 48, singer-actress Whitney Houston died due to drowning and cocaine abuse. She was found dead last February 11, 2012 in a bath tub at her hotel room in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles California.

MARIO O’ HARA - Renowned director Mari O’ Hara also passed away last year. Direk Mario died last July 26, 2012 due to leukemia at the age of 68. His death was gravely mourned by Superstar Nora Aunor, as she was known to be close with the director. Their last project together was TV5’s defunct show “Sa Ngalan ng Ina.”

CELSO AD CASTILLO -  At the wee hours of November 26, another renowned director Celso Ad Castillo died at the age of 69 due to heart attack. Before his death, he was busy working on his autobiography.

MARILOU DIAZ ABAYA -  After her long battle against breast cancer, director Marilou Diaz Abaya died last October 8, 2012, at the age of 57. Marilou was  the director of the popular movie “Jose Rizal” which starred Cesar Montano.

These remarkable personalities have passed away, but their great contributions to the industry will forever be remembered.
