Magnitude 6.2 offshore quake felt in Davao Oriental, parts of Mindanao

MANILA, Philippines (Updated 6:25 p.m.) — A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck off Governor Generoso, Davao Oriental on Monday afternoon, June 15, state seismology bureau PHIVOLCS reported.
The quake was recorded at 5:18 p.m., with its epicenter traced 164 kilometers southeast of Governor Generoso at a depth of 86 kilometers.
The earlier reported magnitude was 6.6, before Phivolcs downgraded it to 6.2.
The agency said Intensity 3 was felt in General Santos City.
Intensity 2 was reported in Tupi, South Cotabato; Alabel and Malapatan in Sarangani; Davao City; Digos City in Davao del Sur; and Baganga, Davao Oriental.
Intensity 1 was felt in Tampakan, South Cotabato; Glan, Kiamba, Malungon and Maitum in Sarangani; and Matanao, Davao del Sur.
No damage is expected from the quake, but aftershocks are likely, PHIVOLCS said.
