PNP intensifies drive vs unauthorized sale of police uniforms

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police has intensified law enforcement operations against the unauthorized sale and use of PNP uniforms.
In issuing his directive to police units to beef up measures to protect their uniform, acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said their official clothing not only symbolizes authority but also represents honor, integrity and professionalism in the police force.
“It is the obligation of every police officer to protect and wear them with pride and dignity,” Nartatez said in a statement.
Nartatez gave the order after the National Police Commission convened accredited PNP uniform suppliers to strengthen regulatory measures and curb the unauthorized manufacture and sale of police uniforms.
He said they have noticed an increasing prevalence of unauthorized sellers near the PNP’s national headquarters at Camp Crame in Quezon City and online selling platforms.
To deter the illegal sale of police uniforms, the PNP will actively collaborate with online sellers and will also conduct inspections of stores.
Nartatez urged police officers to be active in protecting PNP uniforms, insignias and other items, in honor of police officers who served before them.
“Let us honor them by properly wearing (the uniform) and doing nothing to compromise the integrity and honor of the police force,” Nartatez said.
