MANILA, Philippines — Traffic enforcers started wearing body cameras yesterday to enhance the implementation of the no-contact apprehension policy (NCAP) of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.

MMDA Chairman Romando Artes said Swift Traffic Action Group (STAG) personnel would use body cameras to film operations against illegal parking and other road-clearing efforts.

Erring motorists will receive notices of violation for illegal parking.

Notices and body camera footage will be “subjected to manual review by NCAP personnel,” the MMDA said.

“The use of body-worn cameras will initially cover major Metro Manila thoroughfares and designated Mabuhay Lanes,” Artes said.

“We will expand the coverage once the ban on street parking in Metro Manila is approved,” he added.

Edison Nebrija will lead the STAG.

Nebrija was suspended and reassigned to the MMDA’s Traffic Education Division for naming Sen. Ramon Revilla Jr. as a violator of the exclusive EDSA bus lane policy in 2023.
