MANILA, Philippines — The crime volume in Metro Manila went down by at least 23 percent, according to data released by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) yesterday.

From Nov. 23, 2024 to May 2025, a total of 2,589 focus crimes were recorded in Metro Manila. The figure is lower by 23.19 percent when compared to the 3,368 crimes documented during the same period in the previous year.

NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Anthony Aberin said the data showed there were 779 fewer incidents of murder, homicide, physical injuries, rape, robbery theft and car theft – crimes the police are monitoring to gauge peace and order in the country.

“We are proving that with clear direction, collaboration and an unshakable commitment to service, the NCRPO can and will deliver lasting peace and security for every citizen of Metro Manila,” Aberin said in a statement.

Police released the data yesterday after the South Korean embassy warned its citizens to be careful amid what it described as a deteriorating crime situation and serious crimes targeting Koreans in the country.

It issued an advisory after two Koreans lost P200,000 worth of designer bags after they were held at gunpoint by four men on two motorcycles in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig on May 17.
