CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines — A retired Army soldier was arrested after he allegedly shot dead a construction worker in Pandi, Bulacan on Wednesday night.

Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo, Central Luzon police director, identified the suspect as alias Manny, 70, and the victim as alias Jose, 53.

Investigation showed a resident sought the help of the police regarding a shooting incident that occurred shortly before midnight in Barangay Siling Bata.

Responding police officers found the body of the victim in the area and arrested the suspect.

Police said they seized from the suspect an improvised firearm.

Charges of murder and violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act in relation to the election gun ban will be filed against the suspect, probers said.
