1,000 POGO workers to be deported – PAOCC

MANILA, Philippines — The Presidential Anti-Organized Crime Commission is considering deporting more than 1,000 workers of Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs) still in PAOCC custody in the coming weeks, an official said yesterday.
PAOCC executive director Gilbert Cruz said the foreign POGO workers are being held at a detention facility in Pasay.
Some of the foreign workers are receiving medical treatment such as dialysis and HIV care, Cruz said.
“We’ll see if we can deport them in two to three weeks because they are a lot,” Cruz said. “Each of them requires travel documents since most of them no longer have passports.”
The PAOCC is coordinating with foreign embassies to issue one-time travel documents for those without passports, according to Cruz.
On Friday, seven Indonesian POGO workers surrendered to the PAOCC.
The agency is working with the Indonesian embassy in the Philippines to process their repatriation.
