MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) would call an inter-agency meeting to tackle the EDSA rehabilitation project, which starts this month.

According to the MMDA Public Affairs Staff–Public Information Office, the agency is still waiting for the plans to manage road traffic along EDSA, one of Metro Manila’s busiest highways, from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Loreta Malaluan, DPWH National Capital Region director, said in an interview over radio dzBB that rehabilitation works would start at the northbound sections of EDSA from Balintawak to Monumento.

The southbound part, which will cover 15 segments from Monumento in Caloocan City to Roxas Boulevard in Pasay City, would start at the exclusive EDSA bus lane, she added.

Malaluan said buses would have to share with the remaining lanes once the rehabilitation work on the bus lane begins.

The EDSA rehabilitation project, including drainage works, would have to be completed before the Philippines hosts the ASEAN Summit next year, she also said.
