Quake rocks Surigao del Sur

MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude-4.1 earthquake rocked Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur yesterday morning, almost a month after a major quake jolted the province, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

Phivolcs said the temblor was an aftershock of the magnitude-7.4 earthquake that jolted Surigao del Sur on Dec. 2.

The aftershock occurred at 8:52 a.m. and its epicenter was located 94 kilometers north of Hinatuan.

Meanwhile, a magnitude-4 earthquake also rocked the nearby town of Lanuza at around 11:22 a.m.

Phivolcs said the epicenter of the quake was located nine kms north of Lanuza.

No casualty or damage to property was expected from both quakes, state seismologists said.
