DPWH completes Pampanga slope protection project

Jose Rodel Clapano - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The construction of a slope protection structure and road widening in Lubao, Pampanga has been completed, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The project along the Sapang Matwa creek in sitio Dampalit, Barangay Sta. Monica cost P17.8 million and was funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act.

It involved the construction of a 153.88-meter concrete slope protection using structural steel sheet piles, concrete pile caps, wheel guards and cement concrete pavement.

The project will protect communities situated around the creek from floods as well as hasten movement of people, goods and services in Lubao, DPWH-Pampanga 2nd district engineer Gregorio Audea Jr. said.

“The safety upgrades are specifically designed to protect motorists from potential accidents near the creek and will benefit road users,” Audea said.
