Students from EMBO barangays get scholarships

MANILA, Philippines — The Taguig City government has provided scholarship grants to students from the 10 enlisted men’s barrio or EMBO barangays.

The local government on Monday distributed cash allowance to the first batch of 387 recipients of the Lifeline Assistance for Neighbors In-need (LANI) scholarship program.

City hall said it received over 5,000 scholarship applications from students in EMBO barangays.

Other successful applicants have yet to receive scholarship grants.

The LANI scholarship program offers grants of P15,000 to P100,000.

An additional P5,000 is given to students who achieve a weighted average of at least 88.75 in a semester.

The program is open to Taguig students taking technical-vocational courses, undergraduate degrees or postgraduate studies.

The residents of the 10 EMBO barangays now under the jurisdiction of Taguig are eligible to receive scholarship grants. These are Barangays Cembo, South Cembo, Comembo, East Rembo, West Rembo, Pembo, Pitogo, Post Proper Northside, Post Proper Southside and Rizal.
