Boat’s safety certificate suspended

MANILA, Philippines — The Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) has suspended the safety certificate of a passenger boat that capsized in the waters off Romblon on Saturday.

A passenger died while three others were injured when the M/B King Sto. Niño 7 figured in the sea accident.

Rizal Victoria, chief of the Marina regional office IV, issued a one-page suspension letter addressed to Armando Moreno, owner and operator of the boat.

The suspension will be lifted only upon recommendations by Marina personnel tasked to inspect and evaluate the boat.
