CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A jail officer was killed in an attack by a motocycle-riding man in Sto. Tomas, Batangas on Saturday night.
Jail Officer 1 Leonardo Caronan of the Bureau of Jail and Management Penology and his wife were about to close their store in Barangay San Miguel at around 8 p.m. when a motorcycle pulled over.
Police said the rider pulled out a gun and shot Caronan several times before speeding away.
Caronan died from multiple gunshot wounds while being treated at the Cabrini Hospital.
Probers have yet to determine the motive for the killing.
