MANILA, Philippines — The single ticketing system will be fully implemented in the next two weeks, Metro Manila Council (MMC) president and San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora said yesterday.

The test run of the new traffic scheme started yesterday in select cities in Metro Manila.

“I am looking at a couple of weeks. This will not take a long time because the integration of other local government units is ongoing,” Zamora told reporters.

He said mayors would meet in the coming days to assess the first days of the dry run.

“The other cities that are not included in the test run are still facilitating the integration of their traffic systems to the Land Transportation Office and IT companies,” Zamora said.

The single ticketing system aims to impose a uniform set of fines for traffic violations in Metro Manila.

Under the Metro Manila Traffic Code, the fines for 20 most common traffic violations range from P500 to P5,000.

Zamora said traffic violators would be accosted and issued citation tickets during the test run.
