MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region (NCR) reported only 17 new COVID-19 cases on Feb. 5, the lowest since March 20, 2020 at the start of the pandemic, according to the OCTA Research Group.

OCTA fellow Guido David, however, noted that RT-PCR testing remained low at 35 per day per 100,000 people in the first week of February.

The region’s positivity rate, which measures the number of positive results out of the total tests conducted, dropped to 1.7 percent as of Feb. 4, he added.

Official numbers do not include positive results from antigen tests.

The Department of Health reported 130 new cases on Monday, with 41 in NCR.

Nationwide positivity rate was at 1.2 percent nationwide.
