P1.2 million shabu seized in Davao stings

MANILA, Philippines — Shabu with a total estimated street value of P1.2 million was seized in separate anti-narcotics operations in Davao region over the weekend.

The stings, conducted by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement agency (PDEA), also resulted in the arrest of seven suspected drug traffickers.

Two of the suspects were identified as John Rex Tabudlong and Mars Yamson.

Tabudlong was collared after he reportedly sold illegal drugs to undercover agents in Mati, Davao Oriental on Friday.

Yamson and his three companions, who were yet to be identified, were arrested on the same day in a sting in Agdao, Davao City.

The PDEA said they recovered P186,000 worth of shabu from Yamson and his companions.

A similar anti-illegal drug operation was conducted in Bago Gallera, Davao City on Saturday, which resulted in the arrest of two suspects, whose identities were not immediately available. The suspects yielded P165,000 worth of shabu.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects, the PDEA said.
