ILOILO CITY , Philippines — A 20-year-old woman was wounded after she was hit by a stray bullet on New Year’s Eve in Lapaz district in this city.
Kate Nichole Cambronero was at home in Barangay Rizal when she felt something hit her knee at past 9 p.m.
Cambronero said she saw blood oozing from her knee, prompting her to ask help from her relatives and neighbors, who rushed her to the University Medical Center.
She was discharged immediately after receiving treatment for a graze wound, according to Maj. Jose Val Ladublan, chief of the city police station 2.
Police arrested at past 1 a.m. Cambronero’s neighbor, Nila Magcanam, 44, who was among the people who brought the victim to the hospital.
Ladublan said Magcanam admitted to firing the gun that wounded Cambronero.
Police recovered a bullet shell for a .45-caliber pistol from Magcanam’s bedroom.
