P16 million shabu seized in Malabon
MANILA, Philippines — Police confiscated over P16 million worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu from a man in Malabon City early yesterday.
Noel Lonzano Herrera, 56, was caught in a sting by the city police’s anti-drug unit along Pureza street in Barangay Tugatog, the Northern Police District reported.
Lawmen recovered two kilos and 380 grams of shabu valued at P16.18 million, a digital weighing scale and a driver’s license from Herrera, who is considered a high-value target and faces charges of possession and sale of illegal drugs.
In Las Piñas, a Nigerian man suspected to be a member of the West African Drug Syndicate was arrested in a sting in Las Piñas City on Thursday that yielded P5.42 million worth of illegal drugs, police reported yesterday.
Nnaemeka Nwoke, 36, was collared by anti-narcotics officers at a subdivision in Barangay Talon Singko at around 8:30 p.m., according to National Capital Region Police Office director Maj. Gen. Jonnel Estomo.
Among the items seized from the Nigerian were several packs of the party drug ecstasy valued at P2.3 million.
Nwoke was also in possession of 195 grams of shabu valued at P1.32 million and 337.5 grams of cocaine with a street value of 1.78 million.
The suspect faces charges of violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
