Man held for selling illegal firecrackers online

MANILA, Philippines — Police arrested a man in Quezon City yesterday for allegedly selling prohibited firecrackers online.

Operatives of the Firearms and Explosives Office and the Anti-Cybercrime Group apprehended Dino delos Santos, 40, in Barangay Novaliches Proper at around 9 a.m.

Delos Santos reportedly met with an undercover police officer in a fastfood restaurant along Gen. Luis street.

Fifty whistle bombs, 15 packs of five star firecrackers, two bundles of kwitis, 50 pieces of bawang, two battery fountains and three boxes of sparklers were confiscated from the suspect.

Lawmen placed Delos Santos under arrest after he accepted P17,500 in marked money from the police officer.

Delos Santos is being held on charges of violating Republic Act 7138, which regulates the sale, manufacture, distribution and use of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices, in relation to RA 10175, the Cybercrime Prevention Act.
