MANILA, Philippines — Bureau of Customs (BOC) Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday.

“He is on quarantine, but he continues to work remotely on urgent matters concerning the BOC,” Cynthia Balana of the Customs public information office told reporters.

Balana said Ruiz would remain in isolation until next week to comply with the mandatory quarantine protocols.

Ruiz said he manifested symptoms of COVID-19, including sore throat following a meeting with BOC officials on Monday.

He urged Customs officials who interacted with him to undergo reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction or RT-PCR test.

Ruiz immediately left his office on Monday after his RT-PCR test came out positive for the virus.
