The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Senators Bong Go and Robinhood Padilla visited the town of Guimbal in Iloilo on Friday to personally extend aid to sectors trying to overcome the challenges of the COVID pandemic.

In coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the local government, Go and his team gave livelihood support to qualified beneficiaries such as vendors, agricultural workers and micro entrepreneurs.

Grocery packs, masks, vitamins, meals and shirts were distributed to 1,448 beneficiaries in a ceremony conducted at the Guimbal Municipal Gymnasium

Select beneficiaries received bicycles, phablets, shoes, watches, and sports equipment.

To help residents start their livelihood, representatives from DSWD extended assistance through its sustainable livelihood program

Go advised residents to look after their health and seek help from any of the four Malasakit Centers located at Don Jose S. Monfort Medical Center Extension Hospital in Barotac Nuevo, Western Visayas Sanitarium in Santa Barbara, and Western Visayas Medical Center and West Visayas State University Medical Center, both in Iloilo City, should they need medical assistance from the government.

He reiterated his appeal to all unvaccinated yet eligible people to get their complete jabs against COVID-19, noting the crucial role of vaccines to the country’s economic recovery.

Meanwhile, Padilla vowed to continue protecting the welfare of the Filipinos in need, similar to Go’s approach in public service.

Earlier, Go and Padilla witnessed the groundbreaking for the San Joaquin Super Health Center and provided assistance to barangay health workers.
