Manila declares 18 streets free of vendors
MANILA, Philippines — Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna has signed an executive order declaring 18 streets in the city where vendors and parking are not allowed.
In Executive Order No. 15 dated July 25, Lacuna said there is a need for a “no-parking, no-vending policy” to ease food and vehicle traffic as well as provide safe pedestrian passage to the public.
The roads declared as “no-vendor, no-parking zones” are Juan Luna from Recto to Plaza San Lorenzo Ruiz, Soler from Recto to Reina Regente, Blumentritt from Rizal Avenue to A. Bonifacio, Plaza Miranda, Raon from Quezon Boulevard to Rizal Avenue, C. Palanca from Ayala to Plaza Lacson, Carriedo from Rizal Avenue to Quiapo Church, UN Avenue from Roxas Boulevard to Taft Avenue.a
Padre Faura from Roxas Boulevard to Taft Avenue, Pedro Gil from Roxas Boulevard to Quirino Avenue, Paz from Apacible to Pedro Gil, A. Linao from Quirino to Apacible, Taft Avenue from Vito Cruz to Lawton, T. Alonzo from Recto to Ongpin, Zobel Roxas from Osmeña Highway to Pasig Line, and Onyx from A. Francisco to Zobel.
C.M. Recto from Asuncion to Juan Luna and Kalaw from Roxas Boulevard to Taft Avenue were also declared no vendor-zones, but with allowed one-lane parking.
Lacuna ordered the Task Force Against Road Obstruction to implement the clearing operations.
The task force earlier submitted to the mayor the list of priority roads for clearing.
