4 injured in Cebu fire

CEBU, Philippines — Four persons were injured in a fire that destroyed at least 15 houses in Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City at dawn yesterday.

The blaze broke out at around 4 a.m. in Sitio Kalubihan, according to a report of the Cebu City Fire Office.

The flames quickly spread and destroyed houses mostly made of light materials. Fire out was declared at 5:22 a.m.

Senior Fire Officer 1 Riza Julve, arson investigator, identified three of the injured victims as Terstin Melindo, Mary Grace Obando and Danilo Ravidas.

Probers have yet to determine the cause of the blaze that displaced at least 60 people.

The victims were temporarily sheltered at the Banawa Elementary School.

Damage to property was estimated at around P450,000. – The Freeman
