MANILA, Philippines — The remains of lawyer John Albert Laylo, who was fatally shot in Philadelphia, arrived in the country yesterday.
Laylo’s family and Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) personnel received his remains at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
The DFA said Leah Laylo, the victim’s mother, and a cousin accompanied the remains back to Manila via a Philippine Airlines flight from New York.
The rest of Laylo’s family – his father Albert and sisters Ann and Althea – were at the airport to receive them.
Laylo and his mother, who were in the US to visit relatives, were in an Uber vehicle in Philadelphia to catch their flight to Chicago on June 18 when a still unidentified assailant shot at them. Laylo died from a gunshot to the head.
Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney apologized for Laylo’s death and offered a $20,000 reward for information leading to the assailant’s arrest.
