MALOLOS, Philippines — The NLEX Corp. has allotted P1.2 billion in capital expenditure to enhance and maintain the North Luzon Expressway.

The company is a subsidiary of the Metro Pacific Tollways Corp., the toll road arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corp.

In a statement, the tollway company said it set out various initiatives to upgrade its infrastructure, toll collection system and account management system.

These projects, which involve the upgrading of its core system and equipment, will help improve the processing of lane transactions, the company said.

With these developments, RFID or radio frequency identification users can expect faster recording of passage, balance and reload as well as easier tracking of individual and corporate accounts.

“We keep on investing in innovative solutions to make our processes more efficient and make the experience of our motorists more pleasant and comfortable as possible,” said NLEX Corp. president and general manager J. Luigi Bautista.

Aside from software upgrade and system migration, the company will also replace its toll system equipment within the year.

The company said close to 100 pieces of toll system equipment would be upgraded.
