MANILA, Philippines — Mayor Joy Belmonte lauded the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), led by director Brig. Gen. Remus Medina, for securing the elections and the canvassing of votes and proclamation of president-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and vice president-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio.

“I would like to congratulate you for the very good performance of QCPD in the last quarter. Congratulations, especially during election day. You were very visible and very responsive and I was a witness thereof,” Belmonte said during the Quezon City Peace and Order Council meeting on Monday.

At least 2,155 police officers from the QCPD secured the Batasan Pambansa complex and roads in Quezon City during the canvassing of votes and proclamation of Marcos and Duterte-Carpio.

The QCPD fielded around 4,132 police officers during the national and local elections.

Belmonte attributed the peaceful outcome of election-related activities in the city to the concerted effort, numerous phases of preparation, contingency planning and collaboration between the local government, police and other stakeholders.
