MANILA, Philippines — Starting today, senior citizens and healthcare workers in Valenzuela City may avail themselves of a second booster dose of COVID-19 vaccines amid the threat posed by the Omicron subvariant BA 2.12.1.

City hall said second booster shots are available at the Valenzuela Astrodome from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

Vaccine recipients should have received their first booster jabs four months ago.

They need to present the QR code issued by the local government, vaccination card and valid IDs.

In San Juan, Mayor Francis Zamora said second booster shots would be limited to health workers and elderly residents.

The city government will administer Pfizer and Moderna vaccines for second boosters on the third floor of VMall in Greenhills.

Zamora said qualified A1 and A2 individuals need to sign up first at the city’s vaccine registration portal before proceeding to the vaccination site.

The Department of Health announced on Wednesday that elderly and medical frontliners are qualified for second booster shots to boost their immunity against the more contagious Omicron subvariant. – Neil Jayson Servallos
