CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Two persons died while another was hospitalized after they drowned in a river in Naic, Cavite on Sunday night.
The bodies of Chelzky Regato, 31, and Noel Sanding, 18, were recovered two hours after the incident that occurred in Barangay Bucana Sasahan, according to S/Sgt. Rodrigo Veloso, case investigator.
Regato’s niece Zyrahlyn Edara, 16, was taken to the San Lorenzo Hospital for treatment.
The victims along with five others went swimming to celebrate the birthday of one of their friends.
Veloso said the victims could have been drunk when they went swimming.
“Edara was the first to take a dip, but the current carried her away. Regato and Sanding tried to help her, but they too drowned,” Veloso said.
Edara was rescued by their companions.
