Neil Jayson Servallos - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Operatives of the National Capital Region Police Office rescued five foreigners from their kidnappers in Mandaluyong City, the NCRPO reported yesterday.

Malaysian Teo Chee Ching and Chinese nationals Wang Ui Yong, Yan Lu Ting, Li Qing Lin and Yang Li Hui were rescued during an operation hatched by the Regional Special Operations Group (RSOG) in Barangay Addition Hills over the weekend.

RSOG chief Lt. Col. Melvin Montante said they received a complaint from one of the victims’ friends about the kidnapping.

The NCRPO conducted an operation that led to the arrest of Darren Lim.

Police have launched a manhunt for three other unidentified suspects.

NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Vicente Danao said the victims were brought to a government hospital for medical examinations.

Police initially withheld the identities of the victims for security reasons, Danao said.

Charges of kidnapping and serious illegal detention are being readied against the suspects.
