MRT-3 passengers get free rides today

MANILA, Philippines — The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) is offering free rides to the public today, Rizal Day.

The free rides will be from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., the train management said in a statement on Tuesday.

The MRT-3 reminded commuters of the first and last trips during the holiday.

The first train will leave the North Avenue station at 4:40 a.m. and Taft Avenue station at 5:26 a.m.

The last train will leave the North Avenue station at 9:30 p.m. and Taft Avenue station at 10:16 p.m.

The MRT-3 management reminded passengers to comply with health protocols such as wearing face masks and not answering phone calls or eating while on the train.

On Dec. 23, the rail line transported a total of 223,739 passengers, the highest since the MRT-3 resumed operations in June 2020 amid the pandemic. – Ghio Ong
