LTFRB rolls out P1 billion fuel subsidy for drivers
MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is eyeing to complete the distribution of the P1-billion fuel subsidy to around 136,230 jeepney drivers by next month.
Zona Russet Tamayo, officer-in-charge of the LTFRB’s legal division, said the LandBank of the Philippines is in the process of printing the Pantawid Pasada Program or PPP cards for at least 51,000 beneficiaries.
Tamayo said 85,000 jeepney drivers have availed themselves of PPP cards, which were printed for previous cash subsidies by the government.
Beneficiaries of the program are entitled to receive P7,200 each in cash subsidy.
On Wednesday, the government started the distribution of the cash assistance to help jeepney drivers cope with the pandemic and recent oil price hikes.
Tamayo said jeepney drivers would continue to receive fuel subsidy even if the prices of petroleum products are decreasing.
