Rider caught on video sexually harassing passenger
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) yesterday urged patrons of ride-hailing app services to take extra precautions after a woman accused a rider of sexually harassing her.
PNP spokesman Col. Rhoderick Alba said passengers should be vigilant when riding motorcycle taxis, especially at night.
“It’s good to know the identity of the rider na makikita naman sa mga ride-hailing apps. Kung posible naman, huwag na bumiyahe mag-isa sa gabi,” Alba told reporters.
Alba made the statement after Joyride driver Dennis Bendecio was caught on video making sexual advances on his passenger during a trip.
In an interview on GMA News, the victim said she started taking a video of Bendecio after he touched her legs.
Bendecio was heard in the video asking the victim to go to a hotel with him.
The suspect stopped and apologized, pleading with the victim not to report him to the police.
The passenger filed a complaint for sexual harassment against Bendecio with the Valenzuela City police station.
Alba urged women to record incidents of sexual harassment and immediately seek police help.
