BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Twelve drug suspects posing as tourists were arrested for trying to transport 8.2 kilos of marijuana bricks with an estimated street value of P940,000 in Mountain Province on Sunday.
The suspects were apprehended in Sitio Ampawilen in Barangay Poblacion, Sadanga town, a common route to the lowlands for tourists coming from the hinterlands of Kalinga, according to agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) based in the Cordilleras.
A tip from a government informant led a joint team of the PDEA agents and local police to the area, which resulted in the seizure of eight marijuana bricks.
