MANILA, Philippines — Authorities seized P5 million worth of smuggled red onions following a raid on a warehouse in Cagayan de Oro City over the weekend.
The raid in Barangay Puntod was based on a letter of authority and mission order issued by the Bureau of Customs.
The raiding team seized several sacks of onions after the Department of Agriculture confirmed that it had not issued any permit to import for the items.
Aside from onions, the team also found sacks of garlic, mung beans and carrots.
