MANILA, Philippines — The Kalayaan Bridge, which connects the cities of Pasig and Makati, was closed to traffic starting yesterday until Sept. 30, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said.
The closure of the Sta. Monica-Lawton Bridge will give way to the inauguration of the Bonifacio Global City to Ortigas Road Link today, according to the MMDA.
The agency said both directions from the cities of Pasig and Makati would be shut down.
The bridge, which was opened to motorists by the Department of Public Works and Highways on June 12, was part of the BGC–Ortigas Center Link Road project, which seeks to ease traffic congestion along EDSA and C-5 Road.
