P7 million marijuana, shabu seized in Taguig, Quezon City stings

MANILA, Philippines — Anti-narcotics operatives confiscated more than P7 million worth of illegal drugs in separate stings in Taguig and Quezon City before dawn yesterday.

Fredo Pendog Diwan was arrested in an operation along C6 Service Road in Barangay New Lower Bicutan, Taguig by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) personnel.

His companion, identified as Agosto Banas Antonio, escaped and remains at large.

PDEA agents seized from Diwan a Mitsubishi Delica van that carried two marijuana plants and 50 kilos of dried marijuana with an estimated value of P6,000,400.

Diwan and Antonio reportedly distributed marijuana to clients based in the southern part of Metro Manila and nearby provinces, PDEA said.

Meanwhile, the Quezon City Police District confiscated P1,012,000 worth of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu and arrested 14 suspects in a series of drug stings in Barangays Greater Fairview, Sta. Lucia, Balon Bato and Tatalon over the weekend.
