MANILA, Philippines — The Taguig government has opened the registration of minors for COVID-19 vaccination.

The city government called on minors aged 12 to 17 to register online through its website trace.taguig.gov.ph.

Both residents and non-residents studying in Taguig are qualified to register, city hall said.

They should present a birth certificate, city address or a school ID.

The municipality of Pateros and the cities of Caloocan, Makati and Manila have also opened online registration of minors for COVID-19 jabs.

At least 2,000 minors in Pateros have signed up for COVID-19 vaccination, according to Mayor Miguel Ponce III.

The municipal government aims to inoculate up to 11,000 people aged 12 to 17.

Ponce said they would wait for guidelines from the Department of Health before starting the vaccination of minors.

“I think there were suggestions on which local government unit would be the first to be given COVID-19 vaccines. I believe minors with comorbidities and children of medical frontliners will be prioritized,” Ponce told The STAR.

The inoculation of minors will start once the vaccines are available, Ponce said.
