Manila launches drive-through vaccination facility
MANILA, Philippines — The city government of Manila launched its COVID-19 drive-through vaccination facility at the Quirino Grandstand in Rizal Park yesterday.
The facility, which is scheduled to operate from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., can accommodate up to 1,200 individuals per day, Mayor Isko Moreno said.
Testing czar and National Task Force Against COVID-19 deputy chief implementer Secretary Vince Dizon, Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Chairman Benhur Abalos also took part in the inauguration.
In a statement, NTF chief implementer and vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. lauded Manila for launching the facility, saying it will provide a major boost to the city’s fight against COVID-19.
“This is another innovation in the city on your strengthened anti-COVID-19 campaign. People do not need to queue through this facility for their vaccination,” Galvez said.
He also commended Manila for being one of the cities with a high rate of vaccination in the country, noting that Moreno said 500,000 people are fully vaccinated.
The city government said only individuals who have booked a slot with www.manilacovid19vaccine.ph will be accommodated. Only four persons per vehicle will be vaccinated, officials said.
