575 Southern Leyte farmers receive land titles

MANILA, Philippines — At least 575 farmers in Southern Leyte are now owners of the land they have been tilling for decades.

The certificates of land ownership award were delivered to the homes of some of the recipients while others received their land titles in a ceremony held recently in Barangay Bangcas-A gymnasium in Hinunganan town.

Agrarian Reform Secretary John Castriciones, who led the distribution of the land titles, said the agricultural lots covered 575
hectares.

Castriciones said it took more than 15 years before the land titles were awarded as most of the landholdings had issues on coverage involving private agricultural land.
