LTO extends validity of driver’s licenses

MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has extended until Sept. 30 the validity of student permits and driver’s licenses that expired during the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) this year.

In an advisory yesterday, the LTO said the move was done in consideration of the quarantine restrictions that may have prevented drivers from renewing their documents.

Included in the extension is the validity of conductor’s licenses.

Metro Manila was placed under ECQ from March 29 to April 4, and this was subsequently extended until April 11. Various areas in the country were placed under modified ECQ from April 12 to April 30, and this was extended until May 14.

Meanwhile, the LTO said it had also extended the validity of the registration of vehicles whose plate numbers end in 6 and 7.

Those ending in 6 are valid until Aug. 31, while those ending in 7 are valid until Sept. 30.

The LTO said surcharges and penalties should no longer be collected.
