ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A barangay chairman was gunned down in Pagadian, Zamboanga del Sur on Thursday.
Ali Gampong, 54, chairman of Barangay Tiguma, was driving his Toyota Vios when unidentified men in a black Nissan Navara shot him several times, Brig. Gen. Ronaldo Genaro Ylagan, Zamboanga peninsula police director, said.
Gampong was declared dead on arrival at the Aisah Hospital.
Police said footage of closed-circuit television camera at the scene caught a man wearing a hoodie firing the shots from the pickup.
An investigation is ongoing.
