Fake Customs employee nabbed

MANILA, Philippines — A man pretending to be an employee of the Bureau of Customs was arrested yesterday by BOC personnel and the Manila Police District.

Macario Samson, alias Emmanuel Dizon, identified himself as a director of the International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI), authorities said.

Prior to his arrest, the BOC said Samson allegedly extorted at least P230,00 from a complainant whose identity was withheld.

Authorities said the suspect asked for money from the victim in exchange for the release of the complainant’s motorcycle from the ICTSI.

Samson is being held by police on charges of estafa, falsification of public documents and usurpation of authority under the Revised Penal Code.
