BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — La Union welcomed tourists from Luzon again yesterday.

The reopening of the province to tourists was announced in an executive order issued by Gov. Franciso Emmanuel Ortega III on Thursday in a bid to revive the tourism industry and revitalize the economy in the province.

However, non-residents will be allowed to visit only tourist spots identified by the provincial government.

Under the EO, tourists regardless of place of origin, should present a negative real time-polymerase chain reaction test result taken within 72 hours prior to arrival. Saliva-based RT-PCR test will be accepted.

Provincial information officer Adamor Dagang said only 700 tourists are allowed per day to ensure that minimum health standards are strictly observed.

Tourists should book their visits through accredited travel and tour operators and apply for travel request through the visitor information and tourist assistance website https://tarana.launion.gov.ph.

Only those aged 15 to 65 will be accepted.
