Nueva Ecija cop shot dead by father-in-law

CABANATUAN CITY, Philippines — A policeman was shot dead by his father-in-law in Nueva Ecija yesterday.

Cpl. Marlon de Guzman of the Aliaga police suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene. The suspect, Alberto Manigao, was arrested.

Initial investigation showed the incident occurred when De Guzman slapped his wife and pointed a gun at her during an argument at their house in Barangay Aduas Norte in Cabanatuan.

When Manigao saw that De Guzman was pointing a gun at his daughter, he grabbed it from his son-in-law and shot him several times.

Jean Marie was hit in her right arm and was brought to the Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment.
